An offline word game: what you can play without internet
Planes, the metro, a weak signal at the beach: a word game you can open anywhere is worth having. Here is exactly what works offline in Pinteza, mode by mode, and the one moment where the Daily needs a connection, so nothing surprises you halfway through a commute.
Take it with you
Pinteza is out now on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. Free, no ads, no account. iPhone and iPad come later.

Three of the five modes play fully offline: Practice, Sprint and Chaos. The Daily needs a moment online to load the day's word, and after that you can finish it with no connection. Duo is a live duel against a friend, so it needs internet for as long as the match runs.
| Mode | Offline? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Practice | Yes | Words come from the app itself. |
| Sprint | Yes | Three words against the clock, all on your phone. |
| Chaos | Yes | This week's rule twist runs on your phone. |
| Daily | Needs a moment online | The day's word is fetched fresh, then you can finish offline. |
| Duo | No | There is a real person on the other end. |
Why the Daily needs a connection
Everyone in your edition gets the same word on the same day. To keep tomorrow's word off your phone until tomorrow, the app does not ship weeks of answers inside it: it fetches the day's word when you open the Daily. That takes a moment. Once the board is on your screen you can lose signal and keep playing.
A good habit if you know you will be offline later: open the Daily while you still have a connection, even if you play it on the train.
Practice: as many words as you like
Practice is the mode to reach for with no signal. Pick the length you want, five, six or seven letters, and play as many words as you like. Seven-letter words get seven tries; five and six get six. Words you solve still go into your Collection with their meaning and rarity.
Sprint: three words against the clock
Sprint gives you three words in a row, five, six and then seven letters, under one shared three-minute clock. It is the quickest way to fill a short wait, and it needs nothing from the network.
Chaos: the weekly twist, offline too
Chaos changes one rule of the game every week, the same twist for everyone. The round itself runs on your phone, so you can play it on a flight. See how Chaos mode works.
Your progress lives on your phone
There is no account, so there is nothing to log in to. Your streak, scores, achievements and Collection are saved on your device, and on Android your phone's own backup can bring them back after a reinstall.

Can I play Pinteza offline?
Mostly. Practice, Sprint and Chaos play fully offline. The Daily needs a moment online to load the day's word, then you can finish it offline. Duo needs a connection.
Why does the daily word need internet?
The day's word is fetched when you open the Daily, so future words are never stored on your phone ahead of their day. After it loads, you can finish the round without a connection.
Does Duo work offline?
No. Duo is a live duel against a friend on their own phone, so both of you need a connection while the match runs.
Is my progress saved without internet?
Yes. There is no account and everything is saved on your phone, including your streak and your Collection.
